Bargain shopping is not for the faint-of-heart. When my goal is legal robbery, I feel like I have to steel myself for a battle. I am marching to the battlefield, armed with only small pieces of paper and, sometimes, a printed coupon policy. I usually get nervous, wondering how firm I’m going to have to be to get all of my desired bargains. Sometimes, it goes off smoothly, with no incident. Other times, I have to resort to my “I’m-trying-to-sound-patient-but-if-you-don’t-give-me-this-discount-I’m-going-to-punch-you” voice. Don’t worry… I wouldn’t ever really punch anyone. Not over coupons, anyway.
But, today it was well worth it. I had my best trip yet, I’d say! Let me tell you all about it!
Healthy Choice frozen dinner
— on sale for $1.75
— used this $2 coupon.
2 packages of Ronzoni Healthy Harvest Wheat Spaghetti
— $1.19 each
— used this $1 off of 2 coupon
2 trial-size tubes of Arm & Hammer toothpaste
— $0.97 each
— used $3/2 coupon in 8/16 insert
(I had two of these coupons and would’ve gotten 2 more tubes, but my Target only had 2 left. I’ll try again next time!)
1 trial-size of Aquafresh Extreme Clean (Mr. Poon’s toothpaste of choice)
— used this coupon for free trial size Aquafresh toothpaste
4 boxes of Kellogg’s Fiber Plus cereal bars
— on sale for $2.33 each
— used 4 of this $0.75 coupon
— special promotion – buy 4, get $5 Target Gift Card
I ended up paying $5.42 from my previous gift cards, and receiving another $5 gift card, making my total cost $0.42. Amazing! But, I had a nice manager and cashier, who pushed the coupons through even when they were for a higher amount, which took off the amount that I owed. For example, even though my Arm & Hammer toothpastes only added up to $1.94, the coupon took off $3. That doesn’t always happen, so today was an exceptional deal!
I am loving Target more and more, especially since our area Targets keep putting great things on sale! The Healthy Choice meals are a steal right now, since you can get them totally free with the coupon and sale. Today is the last day for the Kellogg’s deal, but the others should be around for a while.
