Random Preggo Moments – a new section on the Poon Blog

A quick Google (or Swagbucks) search of the word “preggo” will tell you that this is a controversial word.  (And, it brings up way too many porn sites, which is just… disturbing.)

“It’s a horrible term and a downplay on the beauty of the entire birthing process.”

“Pregnancy is supposed to be a beautiful & exciting time for a woman: not to making up dumb slang terms when she should be thinking of baby names.”

“I totally agree I hate those terms preggers and preggo… it sounds really childish , those getting pregnant should really be more mature than to use such terminology.”

Thank you, random internet commentators, for those perspectives.  However, I’m still going to use the term for this section of my blog.  Mr. Poon and I have found that there are lots of random things that happen when you’re pregnant, and many of these are hilarious.

Is pregnancy/parenthood a beautiful and sacred thing?  Sure.  You won’t hear me proclaiming that too loudly, though, lest I be lumped in with this lot.

But, I’ve found that even the sacred is often funny.  For instance, during my grandfather’s funeral a couple of years ago, one of my cousins farted.

Sacred atmosphere?  Yep.  Freaking hilarious?  Of course!  I don’t care who you ask: fartin’ is funny stuff.

And funny stuff’s for laughing at.  (Someone call John Piper… I think he’ll want to use that little gem in his next book.)

So, I want to share some of these humorous moments and even some that aren’t funny but are maybe just things we’ve processing through this journey.  I hope you’ll check back every couple of days and join us in appreciating the silly things that we experience and think.
